How to Paint Fused Glass

Hello! Today I'd want to provide you with a few suggestions for painted fused glass. I hope these tips can assist in avoiding some initial frustrations! A side note: this piece is solely based upon my personal opinions and should only be used as a guideline and jumping-off point to increase your creative potential.

I utilize Glassline paints to paint either 90 or COE glass 96. Glassline paints can be purchased on Delphi Glass and other fusing glass sites. Glassline recommends thinning the paint, but I've never had for this. If you thin it too much, the paint will simply flow through the tip of the applicator. When you purchase your paint, make sure to purchase at least 4 silver tips. You can also online at www.artglasssupplies.com/glassline-metallic-copper-fusing-paint to buy glassline paints.

Tips are not included with the paint, and I didn't find these tips for quite a while. These tips are simply screwed on over the painted surface and then are then ready to use. The paint can be applied over the glass (my preferred method) or between glass layers.

CLOGGED TIP:

If you're making a design using three or more paints the tips tend to get clogged up very quickly. I cut a piece of thin wire that I found in my toolbox to use for the jewelry-related wire wrap projects I have. Simply insert the wire into the tip's end and it should be clear.

CLEANING:

Here's my top advice for you! The majority of stores selling fused glass have small squeeze bottles, along with suggestions to mix the paint as well as thin the paint. The purchase of one of these cheap plastic bottles can save you tons of time.

Here's how I use them. When I'm done painting, I take the tip of the Glassline bottle. Glassline bottle and then replace the cap that came with the bottle. This is a fantastic method to keep your tips in good condition. If you put them in the paint bottle, they are bound to get clogged up and cut the production.
